It was our second cup game, and the second time we'd drawn a side from our division.
Absolutely fantastic game against Blaby & Whetstone today, it was 0-0 up until they scored a superb goal on the 43rd minute. Half time came around, the manager chose not to do a team talk, because everyone knew what we needed to do and had it drilled in to them from losing 1-0 to them in the league a few weeks ago.
Lakeside United came out 5-1 winners with an explosive second half performance.
Blaby are a great team to played, and for obvious reasons this time it was more enjoyable. Credit where credit is due, their linesman didn't flag for offside despite getting 11 voices shouting at him late on and he responded with "I'm not cheating!" Which is nice to hear especially when it led to another Callum Sankey goal who tallied up 4 today with Daniel Rai collecting the other.
It was the first time we've had the main man Stuart Walker as our referee and today he showed why he's the Referee Secretary. Absolute class by him, he let the game flow and played advantage where there was one, then once the ball was out of play he would do what he needed to do.
Thanks for the great game Blaby, and we look forward to meeting you in league again. Best of luck for the rest of the season, phenomenally organised side.
