Banter for 7th March

Ac Wigston 1-0 Willows.

game was rearranged to our place as thiers was unplayable. Short on numbers in recent weeks and without a goalkeeper available today it was up to me to put on the gloves.

Willows kept going but we played the ball around for long periods and always looked the more dangerous until the second half when willows attacking instinct shown even without verrall who went off at half time.

but fozzi saves 3 one on ones (tips one onto the bar) and they hit the post twice, lady luck shined on us today as Ac's prodgilogical son Lewis Madelin scored a goal which reminded me of the goal collymore against tim flowers never the less Ac deserved victory but on another day could of been 6-5.

roll on Exeter Arms next week, hope we dont get effected by car sickness

Sporting Wigston 6 v 2 Humbo

We were s**t today nothing else to say really lol

Expected more from Humbo to be honest. Sporting 3-0 up in 30 mins, Humbo got frustrated, lost a player to a straight red. They pulled one back 10 mins into the second half, but we made it 4 soon after. Game more or less over at that point.

We played some nice football at times, Rich Saunders looked very sharp today and veteran Jamie Jeyes notched with a fine header. We played better than we have done for weeks, and Humbo probably haven't played that poorly since last time they played us. Still you can only beat what's in front of you - we are staying up!!

great first half from us we dominated the ball and should have gone in more than 2-0 up

second half was a different story tho theyb really came at us and we looked very disorganised but managed to hold on for the win

exeter 3

things didnt start out too well for us today missing 5 regular players from the start. we started the first half very poor and it was only a matter of time before exeter took the lead and fully deserved too. we failed to react to the first goal and continued our poor performance for the rest of the first half conceeding 2 more goals along the way and half time couldnt come quick enough for us. after a polite kick up the arse my lads took to the field in the second half with it all to do. and promtley put the exeter boys on the back foot and started to carve them open with some nice football. it wasnt long before the pressure told and we scored 3 goals in the space of 5 minutes which totally knocked the stuffing out of exeter and from that point on there was only ever going to be one winner, although we did miss chance after chance eventually the 4th and 5th goals followed to bring exeters winning run to a to an end! And it could have easily been another 4 or 5 more if our finishing was up to scratch. Overall really happy with the team spirit that my boys shown today and refused to give up.

one final point about ex's forward laughton. i have never seen one lad moan so much about being offside even when his own team mates are telling him he was. just learn to time your runs pal and you may find the flag will stay down!!

Fosse City 4 - 1 Trinderbox

We played pretty well today. Just appears that the Fosse players wanted it a little more. There was no doubt over the class of Trinderbox as when they got a few men forward, they were stringing the passes together to create a chance.

We created a fair amount of a chances, their defenders tried to dribble it out of defense a few times and were caught out, Little bemused by this approach really, never understand why a defender doesn't just get rid when under pressure.

Bring on the final.

We were poor today, no other words for it. Beaten by the better side on the day, 3-0 down at half time, Sporting may well go up with that side. Sporting very good going forward and capitalised on the holes we left at the back. Runners from midfield caused us problems.

As Pies says, they were good, we were bad. A fair result in the end to be honest, good to see some old Wiggo faces.

Western 5 Ex 3

Well done to Western for their 2nd half performance, used the slope better than we did and were deserved winners in the end. It was a good battle for most parts but some stupid bickering and moaning at times. Thought the ref didn't have the best game he's probably ever had for both sides, but not an excuse. 3-0 at half time should have been enough, simple!!

As for the moaning, thats what Dave laughton does, every game. Think most is down to understandable frustration.

Look forward to the return game, see how you get on without the slope!!

Would also like to add that my goalkeeper Matt Howe, has had to end his career resulting from a horrific car crash.

Matt suffered a compound fracture to his arm, and has been told he won't play again, and was lucky to have just a few injuries, would like to thank him for this season.

In my opinion, the best keeper in division 3.

wouldnt put too much emphasis on the slope of the pitch as more often than not we play much better going up the slope. just think it was a combination of you boys thinking you had already won it and us realising that you had came to our pitch and out fought and played us for 45 minutes. plus a few of your boys were heard making a few anti new parks comments during the game which boiled a few blood vessells which all led to us coming out in the second half to put things right! and id say in the end a 5-3 defeat flattered you as it could have been much more!

and yeah looking forward to coming to your place to sample the hospitality

We had a few players out but started the game so well, we didnt give the royals a kick for the first twenty minutes. They scored 2 quick goals at the end of the first half which knocked the stuffing out of us. 3 more followed quickly in the second half and they deserved there win. We did create a good few chances but couldnt find the net. We will keep plowing on. Good set of lads the Royals lads, and joel upfront is a proper handful, they will be there or there abouts at the end of the season

On Match reports tab on the website, it should say Fosse win in Stokes semi rather than EW Foster, and where it talks about E Fc returning to play Magna in EW Foster.

cant disagree with this to be honest, out played them 1st half but 2nd they came out very strong but we rode our luck a times but glad to make a big improvement from last weeks thumping at Western

Thanks to the Phoenix lads (and female sec), good set of lads and food at the pub always welcomed in our team!

Hopefully continue the improve next week at EFC.

When we beat them in the league there were quite a few shouts of a cheating linesman...well this time they were official linesmen/woman so whats the excuse going to be this time?lol

A good tight game.
As a game Superfly had a lot of set pieces and long throws into our box putting us under pressure but without really testing our stand in keeper, We created the more clear cut chances joey Gordon slamming home from a corner and later hitting the bar from a similar chance. Shaun Sparrow, Lee Stevens and Alex Stafford all had good opportunities to increase the lead but squandered the chances, and a clear penalty claim was turned down late on by the ref to the amazement of both teams.

just dont happen some weeks!! look at us last week....yes western were very good but we were awful!

Good luck to Magna Town in the Semi's - it wasn't our strongest start and they took the chances we gave them and made the most of them, we were unlucky in the 2nd half not to level the score, Paul Barley scored the best goal of the game but it was too little too late. They are a good bunch and its nice to see another female secretary on the touch line

What im saying is when we played wigston in the league we had our own linesman and won and they claimed thats the only way we won,so we had offical linesmen yesterday (at wigston's request) and we still beat them, so whats the excuse this time?? Our yellow kits to bright??lol and in the Advance game there was only one offical that was below par other (and it was him that cost us a goal...maybe 2) but thats football,if we didnt have stuff like this there'd be nothin to moan about lol

For your information most decisions in football are opinions and obviously your opinion doesn't count n the day it's only the Refs that count,get over it,and why would some decisions ruin your game,you seem a bit sensitive!!
you say he was unapproachable,i wander if that is because of how you talked to him,im sure it was,so why dont you just look at yourself and if your so knowledegable take the refs course.
