Why have Barca had points deducted? Have I missed something?

Granted its still in our hands really but I meant before Sundays game if teams below us had beaten us we had a bit more of a cushion from yourselves, Thurmo, nri and barca but now if we lose or 3 we are stuffed especially with everyone else hitting form!

Not sure why barca had points deducted to be fair.

We've still got literally half of our league games to go though, 2 against Thurmo, 2 against fosse, yourselves, barcabullona ad Hoskins if they are still around! I don't think we could get a harder end to the season! Plenty of potential opportunities for us to drop points in that run in malc

We were deducted the initial 1 point way back in Septemeber when we were unable to field a side against Thurmaston, fair enough.

This time we have been docked 2 points for playing a player who was ineligible, against Enderby last year. Basically we were docked the point we gained, plus a point for the crime.

Although to be honest we feel hard done by as we signed the lad on in the morning as we were short, and then we find out later on that he wasn't able to play as he played a game for AFC Hurricanes last season and therefore had to pay his part in their resignation fee. How on earth were we supposed to know that? We did however pay the fine on his behalf as soon as we find out, but rules are rules and it was obviously too late. On the plus side, we get the chance to play Enderby again and gain 3 more points, in a roundabout way.

The main annoyance is it looks bad on our club that we've had points docked for playing illegal players, although unintentional. I wont go on though as I'm sure its an arguement you've all heard time and time again. It's not gone down well with the lads though, and I fear for us.

cheating, breaking the rules, playing players that wernt signed for them, playing illegals, tut tut...shame on these cheaters, blame the post office, excuses excuses excuses, they should take a leaf out of fosse citys books, and do it the honest way.

Why do you fear for you? Rules are rules but incases like that maybe there should be a period after the game say 4 days where a club can check, pay the fine etc as its obvious they've not tried to cheat else they wouldn't have named him on the teamsheet! Sometimes you seem to get punished more when you are honest lol

I agree with you on that one mate, we have been stuffed for lots of money for an honest mistake. If we had known, and cheated we probably would have got away with it!

to be fair, if anyone had told me they had played for Hurricanes alarm bells would have been ringing. And they've been gone a year now so it would have been easy to find out. Sympathise with Barca though, because although there is a stigma attached to having points deducted for that reason, I think more and more cases are clearly genuine errors.

I wouldn't have clicked about hurricanes, sometimes even a player won't know. Like Dezza says, if you had a system like the one for speeding? Basically you don't pay points if its an accident, and you can just pay the fine. But you can only make the mistake once

Love that ideas widds! You can either have a 2 point or a 30 quid fine!

Also I wouldn't have known about hurricanes either

but if you encourage a 'one strike and your out' option people will deliberately use it to cheat imo

Yeah, the dishonest teams Will try to cheat, but then you give them the big fine. The honest teams that made a mistake won't be punished as much tho. At the moment teams that cheat, more often than not get away with it, whereas teams that are honest and make a mistake get punished heavily. Plus, leagues are won with football and not with paperwork

Polska ledge, we didn't know he'd play for Hurricanes. Like I said, he played 1 game for them so he was also oblivious to the fee attached to him. Luckily for us though he didn't rupture ligaments in his arm and therefore missed the rest of the season since...oh...wait..he did.

We didn't even get a chance to represent oursevles at the hearing to at least explain why the mistake occurred. Thats the most annoying part. Who in their right mind would be an inillegible player on the team sheet? Clearly a genuine mistake.

The rule does need to be looked at. You sign players on in the morning before a game, usually when you are short and need a quick fix. I think a fine would of been appropriate in this situation. We could of played him under a different name and nobody would of known and we'd be 2 points better off now. Maybe we'll do that in future to be on the safe side. Lets be honest, the majority of Alliance teams are inner city based. We could cheat every week if we wanted to because I don't think anyone knows who any of our players are. But we're an honest team, and honesty doesn't pay, clearly.

Well yes maybe, there are two sides to every story and all that.

Anyway, if we'd of played Thurmo we'd of got 0 points, if we didn't have 11 against Enderby we'd of had 0 points, so we've lost the point we gained, plus 2 points for the rule breakings, so therefore we can earn 3 in the replay and somehow it seems that we'll be better off. If you think realllly hard about it, we'll of gained a point, although it would seem we've gained 0.

I think we should form a players/ team union like the PFA for the alliance league haha or sit on a new disciplinary committee with all our modern and flawed ideas for moving the beautiful game forward or maybe not

I like the idea of the PFA for the alliance. I'd obviously be on the board and my decisions will be based on whether or not I like each team. So invariably, your all screwed.

As we are flying the division 1 flag in the billy walton, does anyone think we can shock the world and beat Oscars? We've done it once before, but I dare say they've gone through a makeover since then.
