Squad Numbers

Our manager asked us all the other day what squad number we wanted as he was getting the new kit printed, i was quite suprised at the amount of players that requested a certain number as its never really been something thats ever bothered me!! what do other teams do regarding squad numbers?? do you have a certain number you play in?? and why??

first come first served, unless someone throws a strop if someone has got their number, in which case we tell them to grow up

I wear number no1 because i am the goalkeeper

no 4 for me as iv always wore that numbe since i was younger

I have worn number 9 for years. And it has always been quite lucky for me.

Got to be number 10 for me - got absolutely no reason why though.

Always wore it at Red Cow, Es Cana (when I could get it off Daz Russell) and then Birstall Rangers.

Now I've left Birstall I'm kind of hoping they've retired the shirt in my honour - somehow I doubt it though!!

our team chose there own numbers

21 for me...altho Wigston rangers only went up to 19 so had to settle for that

17 for me but not got it in new kit so changed to 9 not good as people expect me to
Be decent I preferred the sub number no expectations then

Number 10 even back in my school days when i played at the back

and pretty much everyone has a regular number

9 for me please is it available anywhere lol?

Fat kids wear even numbers (XL shirts)

Fit kids wear odd numbers (L shirts)

We also have a XXXL for a certain fine specimen

I'll tell you a little Secret Peeweee, Giving players a squad number was for one reason and one reason only.

I'll now know where the missing kit goes!!!!



PS. I always let the special player on the team have 15.

I wear number 12 for some unknown reason

But i wud say 75% of the lads have an affilation to a shirt number now!

I've been trying to work it out Watcher - must be 20 years ago and was there for about 5/6 years..

Also played for the Es Cana Vets side.

Did you play for them yourself mate?

think they checked out the validity of the 00 shirt and got the green light

i just pick a shirt up out the bag never bothered me what number it is! if u canplay u can play regardless of a lucky number!!

Every player in our squad has their own kit, so they could pick whatever number they wanted. Since the start 4 years ago we have had a lot of changes within the squad so people have changed numbers. But most people have still got the number they started with....including me.

Thats my philosophy KAJI-MACHINE i cant play for s**t so numbers dont really mean alot to me lol.

our new kit is on its way and have been thinking of a way to make some extra money for the club; think im gonna auction off the squad numbers as i no how much the lads like there own numbers - lets see how much there prepared to pay! will let u no how i get on, maybe need some new players if they dont like it, lol!

just wondered if paul phillips was playing for them then i seem to remember him playing about the same time as das russell

We have a No.69 shirt which also has the words 'MONG' on the back which is reserved for the player that does the stupidest thing previous game or even during the week leading up to the game, usually goes to Maggs although Hotshot is a strong contender this week based on the fact he recommended to his GF that she should use her bedside lamp as there was a power cut
