Bad press for Alliance

Just read in Mercury police called fight in game at Western Park. Sad press for football on Sundays......but could this have been avoided if ref had been stronger in his running of the game. Too often the ref seems to bottle important calls as they appear worried of the consequences. Sad sad sad!

Not sure how in any way this can be the ref's fault? Whether the referee was in control of the game or not, no football game should have this sort of violence in.

Because poor control of game lets it get out of hand and fatally dangerous. Yellow or red cards and serious chats with captains help teams understand how the referee will run the game to ensure a fair and enjoyable game.

Disappointing reading, hardly anything to do with the match official though. it aint worth his match money is it to play peace maker?

with respect, a ridiculous comment. without referring to the incident or game in question, if some goons want to get involved on a Sunday morning each week only to punch, kick, hurt or intimidate others, then they shouldn't be near a football pitch. that comes from respect, upbringing (or lack of it) and a decline in moral standards. 100 years ago professional football matches did not have referees because both sets of players were considered gentlemanly enough to conduct the games themselves. and did so. not so today. everyone has to blame someone. someone has to be held responsible. fortunately, the majority of clubs are still full of solid, decent guys who still enjoy the game and don't treat it like a civil war. there was also a game last year I was involved in that had violent consequences, and a degree of alcohol was involved. I suppose the ref should have ordered those people to stop drinking as well...5 things referees haven't yet been blamed for:

1. the collapse of the economy in 2008
2. a rise in crime in the midlands in 2014
3. speed cameras
4. the rising cost of a box of cereal
5. Simon Cowell

Ridiculous to blame the ref. Games get niggly and aggressive in all games, but anything like that is uncalled for.
Considering the victim has been involved with the alliance and sunday league for many many years, and barely has a yellow card to his name, and the fact the Royalist have also been in sunday football for over a decade, in the alliance for the last few and have had no problems, then to kick him, or them out would be stupid.

do find there are some "big wigs" on the playing fields on a Sunday, they should save it for a Saturday night.
