Great result against a very good side today.
No side was on top in the first half, there was no clear cut chances but as per Aaron Preston tucked his half chance away late in the first half.
We then proceeded to dominate the 2nd half but it took us a while to get the equaliser, I'll be honest I thought it wouldn't come but Lee Linnett was hauled down in the area and George slotted the pen away, we gained a bit of confidence from this and Jim was able to scramble home a 2nd.
Game was tense from then on especially with Luke Cooper in goal, always afraid that any decent shot on target would go in! but Karl Towers neatly finished to confirm the win.
Great result for us. | |

We were A depleted team today and had to change formation. It was all about staying solid today and in the end came off the pitch disappointed that we had conceded. Oak have got some good players and should do alright. Really disappointed by the way some of the oak players approached the game, they just hacked at our lads consistently throughout the game. Especially their skipper but that's just my opinion. As a centre back I don't think we were particularly troubled but saying that it was more of a midfield battled.
Don't know how the first free kick for the handball can be disputed because the exact same thing in the exact same position was given to royal oak in the second half, only difference being that we took the chance.

Good performance from the plough lads today which proved to be to much for friar lane. Some well worked goals, but still a bit work to do till we are playing at our best. Well played to friar lane, they are not a bad team, and all the best for the rest of the season.

The difference with the hand ball free kicks was that your player had his arms up. I didn't see hacking going on and am very happy how we approached the game. We are not a dirty team, just a committed one. Well done on your victory!

Really happy with todays result, was solid all over the park from Goalkeeper to Striker. We were a little shakey in the early exchanges but the backline and keeper kept the game level. Then we managed to get a goal from a breakaway which Rutter cleanly tucked away, the second was not long after and was a fantastic striker by Paul right in the top corner. 2-0 at half time, The second half started and it was even again, unfortunately for Birstall we have a great break away with Leon Blaber using his incredible pace to leave the defence waiting and when his shot come off the post Paul was there to tuck in his 2nd and our 3rd. This is when Birstall had to go gung ho which left gaps and we could have scored a number of goals but only Leon and Glynn adding before the final whistle. We never really looked like conceding which is why our centre back got man of the match and a well earned beer!! Monsell Next week....

Good result for us today, turned up fearing the worst after seeing the Barcabullona result from last week but we totally dominated the first half and went in 2-0 up. Probably should have been more goals for us with the chances we created but Barca could have had a couple on the break also.
We bagged a third early in second half but then failed to kill the game. Barca pulled one back from the penalty spot with 20 to play which kicked us back into gear, with us scoring 3 in the last 15 minutes. Nath Williams was brilliant today and deserved his hat trick.
Another good bunch of lads at Barca, we're now looking forward to Kirby next week.

A lot happier today than last week but we were very lucky to get a point today, Hoskins should have scored a hatful, and if it wasn't for Widds saving us about 20 times it could have got silly.
Reckon we will be in that relegation dog fight with Kirby and Niffy though, will also add though that you gotta respect Kirby as they sound like they will see the season out till the end. FAIR PLAY.....

Scorer : Jay Heighton.
Very frustrating first half for us, we spent almost the whole half attacking. Credit to Phoenix they were very under strength and battled all the way through. An incredible overhead kick from around 20 yards out put us ahead thanks to jay. We also had a goal dissallowed due a debatable offside. Jay got the 2nd with a nicely slotted shot from a low cross.
Very well reffed by Phil Stacey.
Best of luck to Phoenix for the rest of the season......... Minus our reverse fixture.

| Saff lounge 6-2 MDH
Poor day for us, we don't have a good record at their place and a slow start saw us 2-0 down and man down after our skipper was red carded for handball inside the first 10 minutes. Was always going to be tough from then on, the changes we had to make didn't help our game and ended up pretty much long balls all around. The rest of the half though it would of been hard to tell we were a man down as we created plenty and got 1 back before the break. Second half and the Saff front 3 Rowley, Keo and Ray were always dangerous but we still created chances too before an unfortunate deflection lobbed our keeper, then a good run and cross from their lad was deflected into our own goal, we threw everything forward after that going 3-3-3 to get back in it but it left spaces that Saff exposed.
Thought the red card was very soft handling a cross albeit inside the six yard box and from then on although we never really felt out of the game until the last 15 or so but it was always an up hill struggle and too many players well below par, need to bounce back next week!

Frustrated to come away with nothing today. Mivan played very well and were impressed with 2-3 players. Was not happy with the free kick first half which Mivan scored from. To be penalised for a hand ball when your just two yards away is farcical. The Mivan player flicked it up and hit our player on the hand. There was no movement towards the ball. Mivan though went ahead which changed the game as we had to chase it leaving us exposed for the second goal. We managed to hit the bar twice again Really missed 4 players today including our keeper. Shud be at full strength next week. Well done to Mivan you took your chances and were very strong at the back. Were my favourites for the league and that hasn't changed
( sorry Nugent but u got this one wrong :/ ) I was going to nip down to this game this morning but couldnt make it in the end!
sounds like a close game so dont write yourself off too much, some referees give it, some dont, thats football for you.
Agree with you about Mivan looking favorites tho, had some pretty hard opening fixtures and coming away with 10 points out of 12 then youd be stupid to disagree with that, which players were you impressed with from Mivan?
Still think the league will be between Mivan, Aylestone, White Eagles or Yourself though pal. You missed a good match to be fair. Very close game and quite tense. Not an awful amount of chances for either side. Seems like we like to hit the bar too often lately! Mivan had a couple of White lads in the middle of the park who looked good and also one of the centre backs. I think it's a bit out of our reach now. Catching up already is not good so I count us out. Agree with you pal, game was very tense and on a knife edge until the 90th min. I said to oe of your lads in te second half that i hate playing games like that lol. As a centre back being in that position is horrible. You have got some really good footballers in the squad especially the centre midfielder.. Quite stocky. Its still too early to rule yourself out pal, it is still a lon season. You boys have too much quality not to be in the top 4.

This Sunday will be the first match with our full squad available. We really missed Doyle on Sunday against you. Think he could of made a major difference. You coped well with everything we threw at you and was very impressed. Was disappointed we tested the cross bar more than your keeper. Already quite a few points behind and I no after last years poor start that it can be hard chasing. Between you and eagles for me with aylestone and maybe royalist making the top 4!
