A perfectly playable pitch at Red Arrow, but no opposition or referee turn up and we just get a phone call from Red Arrow sec to say the ref wasnt bothering to turn up so game cancelled, not happy consideriing most of our lads had a 50 mile round trip!

First team had Throops at home in an entertaining game, Dean Summers classic moment when he thought his shot had gone in, ran off celebrating only for it to have gone wide Laughing Sparta 2-0 up at 44 minutes, 2-2 half time! was 3-3 with 15 to go but then they scored with every shot. final score 3-7

Amazing that eh..
I cant get away with calling you a dick on here, so I wont! but....

8.45 am this morning the pitch was inspected and was completely frozen and white over.

9.15 I personally went to the ground and 2 other players were there too. We checked the pitch and the centre cirlce was rock hard and the goal mouths were too. Couldnt get a key in the ground or even get dirty hands from the mud as it was frozen solid.

I phoned the ref and he had been trying to get hold of me because he had just done a pitch inspection on his way over and it was called off.
My reaction was to ask what his criteria was and if we could possibly delay the kick off etc.. he said he would but if there was any hard ground or frozen divets at all, then it would still be off.

We wanted to play!! If you dont believe me, check out the leicester district league from yesterday. Only my team "North Kilworth Res" played. All the others were off! I basically pestered the ref, Rob Crane in to giving us every last second, before calling it off. I even drove to pick him up so he could get there early. He told me 4 times that it wouldnt be on, so I rang the other side and they turned up early so we could warm up in the goal mouths etc.. and try and free up the pitch. It worked. So why would we call today off without good reason?

I then called your secretary .. might be you.. I dont know. I discussed the pitch with him and said that we wanted to play but the ref wouldnt have played it and I would have had to pay him half of his fee's just so he could call it off. Gordon Wells said he would have called it off too.

On my way back, the secretary called me again and I told him that the ref wasnt going to come out. I had already said why previously.

Also.. the big pitch wasnt as hard, but we are not allowed to use that on a Sunday as it is the Kilworth pitch and we dont want kicking off. The smaller pitch doesnt get the sun on it until later, so would have taken longer to thaw.

As for being annoyed at the 50 mile round trip.. why did you travel?! did it go like this.... <ring, ring> "hello".... "hi, game is off" ..... "ok mate we understand!" followed by you ringing all of the players and saying "quick lads, lets get to Kilworth" ??? If so, I hope you enjoyed the sights and the drive home.

25 miles each way?? for all of the lads?! me thinks thou talketh rubbish. Do you all Live in Coalville? Oadby / Leicester to Kilworth is aprox 11/12 miles. However, I can easily believe you! went the wrong way.

I dont usually bother posting but after seeing such drivel, I registered just to give an accurate account.

One final thing though. I hate not having a match but the fact that a prize clown has wasted his morning, makes me feel all warm and happy :-) As for the rest of your lads... sorry boys and is he one of these players who always tells you how well he played but the rest of you try and avoid him as that too is in his imagination?

:-)

Look forward to next week

When the groundsman says its playable and we get the phone call to say its off when our lads are already there (at 9.50) rather than at 9.15 then it could have saved a lot of expense in fuel! Some of us live a damn sight further than Leicester. From our understanding the game would have been played if the ref bothered to turn up! Am not the secretary but im going on information given by players that were already at the ground etc, so the representatives of Red Arrow may well have not been around by the time our players arrived! You have clearly missed my main point that I feel the ref is mostly to blame, although maybe a local ref could have looked at the pitch?!?

p.s. the derogitory comments made are really not in the festive spirit and really quite childish!

:-)

But I achieved my point... I caught a big fish there.
You bit good and proper.

However, and I can prove it if you like... I spoke to your secretary at about twenty past whilst standing on the pitch and having explained what the ref had said. And I told him that it was off. I then text all of our players the same thing. (none turned up, so they understood)

At 9.50, I was driving back when he called me back and asked if it was on. The lad in the car with me was also confused and asked why he had called and asked that, when we had talked about it for about 5 minutes, half hour earlier.

I have just exchanged a few texts with your man and he cleared up a few things though.

He had struggled with the conversation on hands free and wasnt 100% sure it had been cancelled until he called back at 9.50. I obviously wasnt aware that he had mis-heard previously though.

The best bit was that he confirmed that you ARE the bloke in the team, who thinks he is Stevie G, but often plays more like Ali G.
I am sure he is only joking though.

Anyway, I have asked the league about next week as it is supposed to be the return fixture, but your 1sts are at home. I think our pitch (the small one, not the main one) is available and we could have a match after all.

Apologies to the red arrow bloke, after speaking to my club secretary he has apologised for giving out the wrong info following the original phone call when using dodgy hands free. A pint is in offering at the pub after our game Sunday...

I know for sure i play like Ali G, else i'd be playing for Sparta Moshdock not Sparta Parva Reserves Embarassed clown

Good banter and lets just make your secretary buy us both a pint for the mistake :-)

Moshdock are made up mainly of Kilworth 1st team players on a Saturday. Was that a clever response as we are also Kilworth players? Or a piece of luck?

:-)

I would say "see you Sunday" however, after looking out of the window I very much doubt it.

I am dreading having to do a damn pitch inspection now though :-)

Nah i dont do clever responses lol I just know a fair few Moshdock lads, they claim we stole their name! However we put them to the sword in the 5 a side tournament after beating them 2-1 Razz

Very much doubt any game this weekend! must be the Red Arrow curse!
