Don't forget me Widds, I can do a job upfront can't I ??? Can't I ? hey can't I, I changed the game against Bakers, my blistering pace and my battle ram like physique........... Shocked

For the record, I am more than happy to go with the same squad as last season without any additions but like Widds mentioned we have defo lost Daz and maybe 2 or 3 other players might be leaving ( not certain ) if they were to leave then we would need to add as we would only have about 12 or 13 regular players and there is no chance we would cope through the season with that.

We have signed a lad who play's in goal but for the sole purpose of being an extra body on pitch, if Widds was ever injured or away due to work then we would have back up in that area.

One thing that does shock me though, lol, where do people get there info from ? ha ha ha this player only said he would be joining us last night. Shocked

My guess would be that all teams who won the double would be going up two divisions? If certain teams go up one and other's two, I would hazard a guess that having committee members as club officials has its bonuses Rolling Eyes

Thats a fair old implication to make........the league treat committee members teams differently??? Blimey....

I think Sunbury won a double, but probably wouldnt be right to throw them straight to the prem?

Just looking for the same standards through out the leagues, that's all. June 1st will be very interesting. One would assume that winning the league by 8 points (11 counting deductions) a double jump would be sufficient? Sunbury have won teo leagues on the bounce now aswell, so maybe they're ready for the prem?

I can see your point. Its a tough one tho, because whilst we were quite well clear at the end, you look at the games and all key game except desford away were won by one goal, including the final against mdh. I don't think we are division two yet, but if we went there then you deal with it and get players in that you need. Like you say, could be interesting!

don't really agree with double promotions unless a side have dominated their division. Kilworth in Div 6 won their last 13 games and in my opinion would be ok for Div 4. You'd also have to look at some of the quality in Div 3. 2 or 3 of these teams would be ripe for a double jump to div 1. If you score 90 or 100+ league goals in a season then you clearly are a class above

we certainly dont want to go up 2 divisions, we were quite lucky that results went our way to let us win the league and we took a couple of batterings in the last month of the season to, it can be hard for some clubs to move up too quickly

What about other teams in the division, did Great Wigston edge most of their games then, if they went up on goal difference?
Whatever is decided, we wont moan about it. I personally think we are division 3 at the moment, we are not really adding to the squad, other than giving depth i.e no new superstars, especially when you take into account the possibility of their being 8 divisions.
I think the best way to get an opinion on this is for Magna, Phoenix, Sparta First team, Bakers, Superfly and Desford to give their opinion as they all played us, also you could ask Gordon Wells, he reffed us twice (5-4 against Magna and i think when we beat Sparta 3-2 if memory serves me correct). They are all probably better people to judge what division we should be in, not me, you or history (no offence bud)
As i say, whatever happens we will approach it without moaning, but if we do go up two divisions, unfortunately we would have to bring in a few new first teamers which i would be gutted about as we have a good solid team at the moment that are reliable and have a great team spirit....but you play the hand you dealt!!

Out of interest, have you seen us play?? (not being off with that comment, just wondered)

We played NRI & on both occasions they were close games, but at the end of the day the league table doesn't lie, winning any league by (including 3 point deduction) 11 points (16 ahead of the team in 3rd) and the Stokes cup has surely gotta mean at least a 2 league jump. I really don't beleive you'd have to break up your team! Having managed our 1st team in Division1 for part of the season and watching you play on 4 occasions you'd have easily finished at least 4th in Division 1 maybe higher!

Wouldn't break the team but would bring more first team competition which doesn't always have the desired effect. not sure about division one lol. But thanks for the compliment. We drew with you guys despite being a goal behind till 93rd minute, and won first game 5-4, if we went to division two then would your guys go division 3?

i'll be honest ive not seen your lot play a full match - bar 60 odds minutes of your game v magna ( 2-0 magna - i think) we are on the pitch next door so ive seen bits and bobs, my point wasnt really on the strength of your team, but more the fact that it seems some teams will go up 2 divisions and some may not, it opens up too many questions and arguments over the placings of the teams in my opinion!

would be surprised if NRI ended up in Div 2. And Saff Lounge in Div 3. No reason why they both shouldn't be promoted just the one division. 2 division jumps should be the exception if you have a Trinderbox scenario like last season when they won div 5 by about a +100 goal difference and went up 2 divisions as a result. I do believe there are some 'heavyweights' plying their trade in div 3 but no one like that any lower

Cheers for the honest reply dikenio, its easy to say we should be in this division or that, and a lot because we have some 'names' but they are not as young and fit as they used to be.

To NRFC - you think you will go up to division 3, didnt you finish fifth or sixth? Surely thats not promotion place? Just thinking out loud (usually gets me in trouble!!)

There is a lot of guess work in drawing up a constitution, especially with so many new teams, none of whom have signed any players, as yet. No doubt our judgement will be questioned but, by and large, we do not do too badly. I believe the final tables have never been as tight as this season and the last few weeks of the season have never been so exciting.

The saving grace is that, with 8 divisions there is little to chose between adjacent divisions especially towards the bottom end.

Remember that the provisional constitution announced at the A G M is very provisional.

i think both n.r.i and saff should go up 2 divisions, they both had good seasons in winning there respective doubles. fair play to them, now let them have hopefully a more competative season. on another point,we all hear of the new teams in our said areas or locals and can normally work out who join for the crack, but we also know who are the 1 or 2 season pot grabbers. by all means do provisional leagues but as we dont start until september surely the final decisions can be left until 2 weeks before. then the league have the best chance to workout where the stars r all shiftin too and revise the leagues. with so many new teams i cant see another way

In my opinion, what will be will be, it is funny though how at the point of playing Niffy and being 1-0 deep into injury time they were at that point 7 points clear of us and certain for the league title, it's only the fact that they blew up in emphatic style and couldn't win another game after that they never went onto win the league themselves.

Then we move onto the last week of the season when we were playing Bakers Arms, we were 2 nil down with 30 minutes to play and as it stood at that time we were 4 points behind with 2 games to play and one being Bakers again, we some how turned the game on it's head and won 3-2, we then played them the week after and again coming from behind won by the same scoreline to make what looks a convincing 8 points title win.

We are talking very small margins here from finishing 1st to even maybe 3rd, along the way in our season we won almost half our games by a single goal ( cup final included ) if those results warrant a double promotion then so be it, I won't complain, we will try our best.

I can understand that because we had such a tough season our players might find a 2 Division jump a bit much but like I said at the start, what will be will be, if certain people think that we will be too good for Division 3 you only have to look at the other 2 cups that we were knocked out in, Oadby hadn't even won a game when we played them in the league cup and beat us 2-1, we also played Sporting Wigston in the County cup which we also lost 2-0.

On a positive note though, the fact that some people think we should go up 2 Divisions is a huge compliment to the boys at NRI.

I dont really care who goes where to be honest, as long as there is consistancy from the league then there shouldnt be a problem i.e. if we got promoted for example, i would expect Sparta, Desford and Niffy all to join us as there was one point separating us ..i take your point about Niffy being in 6th Widds, but there is then a significant gap from Niffy down to Bees Knees. And all the three teams mentioned took points off us so there is no reason why they shouldnt follow us (if we got promoted obviously)

And with New Road i guess as long as its consistant then there is no room for complaint i.e. if you got promoted 2 becuase u won ur league and additional trophy you would then expect Saff Lounge to do the same... you both had very very similar and successful seasons.

Also if you look at Division 3 it was very segmented, with Foxes, Trinder, Star and Hoskins leaving a 14 point gap between 4th and 5th. And at the bottom there are two teams who didnt score double points, so potentially there are 6 spaces to fill in that division and not all can be new sides...as i am sure 75% of all new apps will now fill div 7,6,5,4

Work starts on the handbook after the AGM and goes to the printers in July. Work starts on the fixtures in late June when we talk to other Leagues about sharing pitches. Preparation of the fixtures for the season also starts in earnest in early/mid-July, ref appointments have to be made and booklet prepared for printing by very early August

So what you're saying is that if a team leaves it until late in the summer to send in their magic orange forms, they can get away with pot hunting pretty easily?

There doesn't seem to be much you can do about it Dennis? What precaustions can/do you take? Do you listen to rumours? or seek opinions from other sides in the same area?
