James has them in hand - delayed due to the consequence of yesterday's multiple postponements affecting Walton Cup games and this week's County Competition games which take priority

| They need to be appointed first - please give the Officers a chance - some of them work too
I am sure your Club Secretary will be advised - in any event County FA appoimtments take priority, so we will have to use what is left

| I shouldn't worry. Will be surprised if 10 games survive.
At least it stretches the season out for those teams who moaned about being in small divisions.

| It has been necessary to change a fixture in D7 - Little Bowden have a free date which was overlooked.
It is now Monsell WMC Reserves v FC City of Leicester

| Not meaning to be pain but just thought I would ask if the fixtures will be released week by week or if there is a fixture booklet and set which will be released? I understand that due to the weather and postponements certain games take priority and therefore might not be able to have set fixture list for the upcoming weeks but thought I would ask | |

| In the very short term the fixtures will be released on a weekly basis.
Thereafter we will revert back to the Fixture Booklet covering a longer period.
As you will appreciate a Booklet is only accurate on the day of printing. Experience reminds us of the many changes at this time of year, due to inclement weather.
The multiple postponements of last Sunday is a prime example. The date was set aside for 15 of the 16 Walton Round 3 games - 2 were played. We cannot merely rearrange them for this Sunday because that is set aside for County Competitions which take priority. Add to that pitch shares and free dates and you will now see that only 5 of the outstanding Walton games are set for this Sunday.
Now if the weather gets a grip of County Competitions this Sunday, that will multiply the problems as they automatically take priority the following Sunday which would disrupt any scheduled Alliance fixtures - and we still have the Walton games to reschedule - as well as a couple of oustanding ties in other cup competitions.
We can be reasonably flexible with League fixtures but Cup fixtures have an end date - at County and League level as the Final dates and venues are booked. Even with League commitments we also have to keep an eye on pitch availability towards the end of the season.
We believe it is safer to move forward on a week to week basis at this stage of the season.

| I personally find this disappointing as I wrote to the council a year ago saying that Thursday was too early to call off a Sunday game. I know why they've done it, but there will be forthcoming weeks when weather picks up and if we had a dry and mild Thursday evening / Friday / Saturday a pitch could be a lot fitter come the Sunday morning. They need to leave it to the discretion of referees as if a pitch is still unfit come a Sunday morning then a referee won't play it anyway! | |

| Unfortunately us at St Marks have had our game called off yet again due to a "waterlogged pitch" this is mainly down to the stupid woman that runs the sports down the Emerald Centre and will not allow us to play on it, i can bet my wage that the pitch will be playable come Sunday though! | |

| If your knowledge of the status of the County Competition fixtures is different to mine, as recorded earlier in this thread, please let me know. This can then be taken into consideration by James when scheduling fixtures for next Sunday as any games not taking place today will automatically take priority next week. | |

We will be playing half our league season in April. as I have said before on this subject the weather we had last winter was not a one off and wetter winters are going to be common now, and then you have got the snow and ice in between it's just how the climate is changing.this will lead to more postponements than there used to be. so this brings me to my pet subject of scrapping the billy Walton to compensate.it is a pretty pointless exercise for 95% of the clubs involved who cannot win It, and, because of the number of clubs involved it just takes up too many sunday fixtures where clubs could be playing league games. now when this subject has come up before the two main arguments against scrapping it is 'we like to see how we do against the big boys' ,well you lose,if you want to do that then at the end of the season ask the league to put you up 3 or 4 divisions. as for the other argument that some clubs say they will finish their fixtures by February without it,well clearly not with all the postponements and as a safeguard to that the prem,1st,2nd and 3rd divisions should all start with 11 teams and 4,5,6 and 7 with 12 giving a maximum of 92 clubs I'm ready to be shot down again

| Pochin it's a valid argument and one worth discussing
I love the Billy Walton personally and wouldn't want to see it scrapped.
In terms of scrapping it, on the whole only the teams in the higher leagues would benefit as they usual would be the ones getting further on.
With regards to 11 in the prem and div one, I think it's been clear to see that we lack quality in numbers at the top as it stands the 22nd ranked team is currently 7th in div 2, this is the bigger problem for next season rather than cup comps how do we fill the top two divisions? If a couple of teams fold near the top could finish 9th out of 11 and get promoted!!!
Not shooting you down as such just a complex problem with no easy solution

| How do you make the decision though Pochin, it seems that for every team that want it scrapped, there's a team that doesn't.
I've seen loads of suggestions on here this year, some seem great until someone comes along and picks holes in them. Its tough.
Biggest problem in things like expanded top divisions is the teams dropping out. You'd hope with a bigger division there wouldn't be 1 whipping boy, and possibly have mini leagues within it, thus giving teams enough competitive games to keep going. No team I was involved in would quit (I hope). But sadly others do, no matter what you try

| Why not just put the question from the league to all clubs as to whether they want to continue the Billy Walton - if the majority want to carry on it stays, if the majority want to scrap it then scrap it. | |
