| Not if I was the referee - did not deny a goalscoring opportunity because the goal was scored.

| the player will have a right to appeal against a ban,,,depending what the report says,,,,as he didnt deny a goal,,,have known some referees who wil caution and allow the goal,,or as gordon says allow the goal and let that be it | |

And thanks to the FA, next season there will only be an appeal if there is video evidence or its a case of mistaken identity. This League and the County have protested to no avail. Most other leagues said very little if anything.

| The Ref would be in his rights to give a yellow card for deliberate handball but not a red,i would hope most Refs would use common sense and just get on with the game without a card | |

| Yea you would hope, unfortunately today he didn't! Also giving a penalty when he said our keeper was first to the ball but the striker fell over his kicking leg was the icing on the cake. Shame really he ruined a good game completely, hope he is happy! | |

Dont worry I will be contesting it! The ref was positive it was still a straight red because I handled deliberately! Absolute joke. I hope he realised his mistake and decided not send the report in, save everyone time and him embarrassment of having to stand in front of me at appeal

| Not sending a report usually results in a fine and suspension for the ref. Incidentally, a player or club official asking a ref to not submit a report has the same result for the player /official. | |

Well guess I'll see him at appeal then because unless he puts in a falsified report he hasn't got a leg to stand on

I do disagree with this. The player should still see red as the INTENTIONS are there to cheat. Does this not come under sportsmanship and fair play?

Hope that it's not a case of guilty no matter what but best of luck No need for an appeal, I have had a phone call from the ref with a sincere apology for his mistake and that no further action will be taken. Credit to him for that but still cost us the game and a much needed 3 points that are now gone.

| Just to clarify this - the referee has reported the sending off to the County FA in the normal manner, but also explained that, on reflection, he believes his decision was incorrect in law.
Accordingly the County FA have advised the club that no disciplinary charge will be raised.

I thought it was a case of what happened on the pitch was reported. I was always under the assumption that the ref was always right no matter what! Maybe it's a stepping stone for most refs to follow in the footsteps
