A deferred kick off whilst we remember.

Anything memorable from your game?

Wigston Rangers 7 Knighton Park 0

We played some fantastic football today, some great goals scored - both individual and team efforts. The game was marred by a red card for an attempted headbutt by Knighton, but otherwise a straightforward win. Also nice to keep back to back clean sheets.

The referee was superb today, took a lot of undeserved criticism from our opposition but was strong and decisive.

Goalscorers: Peck (3), Watson (2), Brennan and Rowley.

Wigstpn fields 3-6 Tomlin Allstars

James Field
Thomas Dunkley x2

Not a bad game for us this week abd we worked hard as a team. Soaked up most of the pressure Tomlin through at us for the first 30 minutes. They could pass the ball and keep it well as you would expect but didn't relalt create too much to trouble our keeper. Fields got the opener when James field from around 40 yards lobbed Tomlins stand in keeper. Straight from the kick off though it was 1-1 when Tomlin played the ball down the left and put in a low cross for a simple finish from 12 yards. Field again took the lead when a mix up between defender and keeper allowed Thomas Dunkley to sneak in a tap into an open goal. Then two quick goals as Tomlin stepped it up a bit left Fields 3-2 down at half time. There third an absolute screacher into the top corner. Second half we fell to sleep a bit a free header and a penalty saw Tomlin take a 5-2 lead. Fields pulled one back to make it 5-3 through Thomas Dunkley but a late breakaway saw Tomlin winning the game 6-3. Good performance and lots of positives today. Good refereeing from Glenn Stewart who we've had the last two weeks which is worth a mention.

humbo 2000 3 qpr 4 (extra time being played but abandoned due to injury)

after being 2-0 and 3-1 down we dug in to pull it back to 3-3 before the final whistle to take it to extra time. we could have won it in normal time as we had probably the better of the chances, but extra time it had to be. we took an early lead in extra time and i thought the humbo lads heads had dropped. then whilst we were on an attack, their player appeared to get his foot stuck in the pitch and dislocated his knee. so although we waited, the game was abandoned. gutted

Medz 10-0 White Horse

White Horse only had 10 today, including no linesman. Few of our goals could have been offside, but hard for the ref to make the call I guess.

To be fair to White Horse they always tried to play.

Royalists 4 - Suecastle 3
Good win for us today, nice to have a pretty full squad available for a change. We went two nil up and looked good until a few decisions went against us and we let Suecastle into the game and went in to half time trailing 3-2. We kept pressing and late on got the goals to take a good win.
Scorers ;
Andy Hiron x 2
Sam Freer x 2

Aberdale 1-2 Oak

Scorers
Dan Maxwell (pen)
Jason Oliver

Finally a win and Finally a squad! Turned up with 17 lads a few of them making their debuts.

was not expecting the performance of Aberdale! There possibly our toughest opponents of the season so far! Alot of lads from Lutterworth town playing for them and could tell they had some real class! Obviously their best players must only turn up now and again!

We went ahead through a reckless challenge from the Aberdale player on Haggerty and Dan Maxwell cooly slotted it away perhaps against the run of play.

Aberdale equalised through a near post header at a corner which was probably deserved.

With 5 minutes remaining and the tie looking like it was going to extra.time, some great work from our debutant striker down the left saw him put an undefendable ball across the goal for Jay Oliver to stab in from close range.

think Aberdale deserved extra time but fair play to our lads who put a shift in against a very good side. If they get there full team out theyll give most a game!

Royalist 4-3 Suecastle

2 disappointing weeks on the bounce for us. Took us a while to get going and a much changed an improved Royalist than the one we faced two weeks ago found themselves two goals to the good.

After that we managed to spring to life and quickly got ourselves level and eventually into the lead before half time.

The second half was poor on our account. We didn't create enough and were eventually punished for inviting too much pressure onto ourselves. We were extremely disappointed to have let a lead slip but that's football for you.

Looking forward to the next couple of fixtures in the cups and the chance to turn our recent poor performances around.

Suecastle goals came from Jack Hirst and Jack Tranter.

Sileby Athletic 4-3 Athletic Blaby

Decent game, our first real test of the season they had a couple of good players who caused us problems. went 1-0 and 3-2 but as ever this season we have found a way to win.

Had a good laugh with their lads during the game, all played in good spirits. All the best for the season.

Got a few of our best players out for the game against club next week.

Birstall Rangers 6-1 United Revolution

Another win against a side doing well 2 divisions higher!

Great performance from the lads, turned up 5/10 mins late a little worse for wear! managed to come on and curl one into the top corner struggling to see straight! lol!

United Revolution had their chances though, a good side and a good bunch of lads, thanks to the chap at the end who clapped us off the pitch too and told us we done well, should be more supporters like that around.

A great performance by birstall if thats the team you get out every week the title in Div 6 will be yours and you will be one of the teams to beat in the Stokes cup too.

We did have our chances but didnt take them. Overall the better side won. Your number 11 on the left wing was unplayable and could easily play in Prem/Div 1

If we have a good season we will see you next year in Div 3 Wink

George was the chap at the end - legend king

Bitterness gets you nowhere mate! making your squad stronger over the summer isn't a crime as said before Birstall Rangers were relegated last season.

Managers do a lot of hard work in the closed season trying to get quality players to improve their team and if they succeed good on them. If you can make your team better, what's wrong with that?, sporting birstall have got better year on year with the manager and players looking for players to improve the team and its worked so far and I hope it continues.

In the case of Birstall Rangers, if it is the same management team as last year then they have done a good job, their linesman told me he was the only remaining player from last season. To able to move that amount of players on and turn themselves from bottom of Div 6 to Champions Elect is a great achievement.

Pot Hunting??? Probably not, management doing a good job more like

However, for the players it might be a different issue, a large number of them could play higher and as I said in my previous post the number 11 where ever he wanted. Why they would want to play so low is beyond me, especially if they are all new to the club. But that's down to the desire to test yourself against the best, a trait that some one the kids of today don't seem to have.

Birstall were a good set of lads and an excellent team, can't blame the club for wanting to improve. Good Luck to them and hopefully see you again next year in a higher division Smile

Ha ha, that was a bit of a bite!!!

Agree with Pete, not blaming the club, when good players come down, you don't turn them away. Or its hard to. Some have played higher divisions and obviously come down purely to win things. Only some, don't know who all are.

Whilst we all want to win, I'm clearly old school and want to be tested and really earn it, rather than play at a level which is easy.

In general, not relating to birstall, it's a difficult one for managers, cos there's loads of examples of teams winning a title, being promoted to their level then having to fold as players leave. Takes a strong club/manager to resist the temptation of signing players who do that
