Stanno Match Balls? Any Complaints?

Our referee on Sunday queried the Stanno balls we were given at the handbook meeting last week.
He claimed they appeared smaller despite the size 5 stamp being on them.
Anyone else have this problem?

And for that matter has everyone decided what match ball they are going to go with for 2011/12?

we had same problem and there not a good ball any way. we will b getting mitre balls

Thought they were small hence the ball going under my foot, lol

used new stanno ball on sunday, players hated it. shall be using mitre ceiro's as our match ball.
stanno ball seems like a size 4 and not worth paying even the redeuced price of £20 from mdh

We are using the Stanno as warm up balls and the Mitre Crowdfinders for the real games!

As soon as I picked it up I was like hummm great. Think the dog can have it haha. Been using the mitre tensile thru pre season. Quality ball

Is a "Sunday" ref different an "any any other day" ref?

We used a (borrowed) Leicester City Match Ball which we still couldn't control on Sunday...

Not used ours yet but we got given a mitre official championship match ball by Leicester City so I reckon we will be using that

It seems to me that if there is a problem with the standard of the ball it should be addressesd by the league and maybe a retraction of the statement that we need "fiffa inspected / quality balls to play with on sundays" that a replacement should be identified sooner than later

no other leagues have to have fifa approved footballs so it makes me wonder why we do, if those stanno balls aint up to scratch then we will want a refund or replacements, its no good buying balls that are supposedly up to scratch when it seems that they are not

The league has inflated examples of the Stanno balls and a Mitre ball to the correct pressure and measured the circumferences. They are definitely Size 5.

Our view is that the Stanno ball gives an illusion of being smaller due to the shape of panelling used in manufacture and the fact that the Mitre has coloured arrow type images on the ball.

Ha ha, used our "free" Stanno matchball today... Well attempted to, flipping awful.. Pumped it up and was not even round!! AND both ref and players said that it "appeared" to be too small!! Gave it to the ref...who bounced it a few times..agreed that it was below "Fifa Match" standard and suggested we used the Mitre ones!!! Stanno Balls = £20 OR Mitre Monde. = £13.... Hmmmmm let me see?????

We win the league.. get offered a free kit which only costs about £12 per person for printing etc.. great.. Dont want a crap Stanno kit for free, let alone if it costs a couple of hundred quid. Even said I would have a kids kit and donate it to a local side. Or offered to allow another Sunday side to take my kit, if they wanted to pay the printing... Then asked if we could get one free match ball or ANYTHING for winning the league...

I wont attend the next meeting that MDH are doing a sales pitch at! And if I get fined, I shall go to the Hinckley league out of pure awkwardness. The arrogance of the man is appalling.

Ban me if you like, I suppose I deserve it for speaking our against the leagues main beneficiary. (I mean sponsor)

I think you have made your point.

The League entered into an arrangement to provide a kit for our divisional winners. You won your division but chose not to take up the kit offer. That is your choice and the League will respect your decision.

The League gave away a ball to all teams - a decision which has drawn some adverse comment - which posters are entitled to if that is their opinion. They do not have to use that ball for a match - it is their choice.

You will not be fined for making a comment. Neither will posts be deleted unless they are consoidered improper for a public forum.

You may have a poor personal business relationship with MDH.

However the League is very grateful for the generous support which MDH have provided over a number of years which has been to the benefit of all member clubs. You are aware of the current financial climate and the difficulty in securing sponsorship for sports teams.

The League is no different in that respect. We have built up a rapport with MDH, just as we have with Leicester Mercury. If that financial support is lost, it will be very difficult to attract replacement, however good and prominent the Alliance League thinks it is. Without it, if the League is to maintain its profile and activity, costs will unfortunately need to be passed to clubs - many of which will not be able to afford them.

Furthermore there are some Committee Members who have put in a great amount of effort over many years and enjoy working on behalf of the League. None of us are beyond criticism but at the end of the day we are elected by member clubs to do the best we can in the interests of the League. Comments which merely rubbish what we try to do only cause some of those Committee Members to question whether the effort and time is all worthwhile.

I would not want your opinions and comments to jeopardise the structure of the League - its Committee, its member clubs, its sponsors and supporters, indeed anything and everything that is the Alliance League.

So noting your personal comments which I consider are derogatory, by implication towards Tony Sparrow- perhaps it's time to bite tongue and allow the game of football to do the talking.

well said gordan, richard shut up moanining about the kit and get on with playing football you sad little person, there is more important things in life than football kit.

Used one of these balls today, we put it in the net 6 times, no complaints.

I will stand by my comments and the numerous text messages of support that I have from several other secretaries. I have spent a lot of money With mdh, so it isn't about that. It wasn't just about the kit (driver). It's about the constant attitude at meetings and Tony Sparrow shouting down one secretary (not me) and threatening to sponsor someone else, just because the lad asked a reasonable question.
We are all free to go to mdh or where we choose. I wouldn't stop anyone using them but shouldn't be leant on either. A sponsor would normally embrace the league, offer a discount and encourage reciprocal support through a good relationship. MDH don't do this, they effectively said at the meeting "use us or else" and no this isn't just my opinion.
I fully agree with supporting a sponsor, so would never undermine the agreement that the league has managed to get.
My mdh comments will remain to myself.
However!
I won't take some prat giving me personal abuse. Feel free to say it to me in person.

No complaints here regarding MDH, I asked for a price on a kit without mentioning what we had already been quoted and he was still £85 cheaper so we also had them do the numbering and sponsor printing. All in all it took 2 weeks from ordering to picking up, no money exchanged until we were satisfied with the kit.

It's a ball half of you can't kick it straight anyway! Get on with it.

Best looking at kits on the internet (as I did mate), after finding a kit the team agreed on I rang MDH to give us a price, he got back to me after 2 days and like I said £85 cheaper and we were only going for Shirts and Shorts (Adidas Stricon) he then ordered them in and I forwarded details at a later date as to the printing required, picked up after 2 weeks. As for the ball, we have already got a few so never used it but like others are saying on here, does appear to be smaller than size 5.

Just going back to the point of the balls have to be fifa inspected/approved we have been given a match ball from last years evo stck premier league now it doesn't say anything about it being fifa inspected/approved on the ball but this ball is played with at quite a high standard and i feel as though i cant use it because it doesn't state on the ball the requirements that this league are asking for. So simple question really CAN I USE THIS BALL AS A MATCH BALL!!!!!!!
