Well done birstall all our players wanted it today & got what we diserved in the end ! NRI are a quality side & think u will win big things this season Widds. Nice touch daz scoring the 3rd with 2 mins left.(winners)

A "proper friendly" full of moments of good play swiftly followed by howling errors. A couple of the goals for each side wouldn't have looked too out of place on a football nightmares dvd but that said I was impressed at the work rate our lads put in and at times some nice football going forward.
I think both teams looked a lot more comfortable going forward than they did defending, Lee Stevens finding the old form we know and love was immense smashing in 6 and the midfield looked at times like they would cut through at will with ross digby particularly good on the day, rounding his performance off with a well deserved goal.

At the other end we didn't deal so well with set pieces (although I must pay compliment to the Niffy deliveries which were on the money time after time) and we'll look to address that quickly. Coming forward Niffy also looked like they would capitalise but I think we probably shaded it and for a first game back since our Spanish adventures I was really happy.

Good performances by a couple of new lads and all up a good day for us.

Turned up yesterday with all but one of our back 4 missing, and only 11 men.

1-1 at half time and its fair to say both teams had their spells. started second half quickly and were 3-1 up after about 60 mins. Although fatigue hit us in the heat again and it finished 3 - 3, both keepers were brilliant!

See you again in the season lads!

Interesting game between the sides, I can only hope that the boys get a little more clinical in the League games between the 2 sides. Good goals though from Jay Smith and Nathan Rutter. A pretty good finish from the Thurmaston lad also.

Thanks to Thurmaston for the game and good luck for the season, good to see them not have to face Division 4 this season as I think it might have been a little too much.

Both teams were struggling in the respect of lack of players, I am shocked they found the net 3 times without me in honesty. We also had another couple of very good players missing Sam Whatsize being the most notable.
