| The weather isn't THAT bad. The over-protection of the councils over the pitches are the bigger problem. In my opinion | |

Agreed. No standing water on the Braunstone Park pitches and the pitches on Welford Road adjacent to the Stage Hotel looked fine as well. Went to watch Oadby Town yesterday and there is no problems with their pitch, and I don't believe they have had a home game called off this season.

| if there was lying water when they tried to mark pitches it cant be done..
resources with councils are tight and being cut all the time, so therefore its easier to call games off and not have to repair pitches after they are played on,,,,
if we insist on playing and mess pitches up then it will mean that more people will be involved and maybe put your costs up,,we have had the problem of councils calling games off for years and dont see it changing anytime soon

Its not a council pitch, and they spend thousands of pounds to keep it half decent......the council has to think of all people that use the park, think of the children, their mummies will be distraught, distressed and burst in to tears if they fall over and get mud on their hands

| Clive, this problem was never as bad 15 years ago. Pitches had to be pretty bad to call a game off. So what changed? I don't believe its to do with costs as they barely did a thing mid-season anyhow. I think it's Health & Safety scaremongering that caused this in the Council decision maker's heads. More common sense should be used and trust in experienced referees like yourself to call games off if it is necessary to do so | |

| city council have to save mllions by 2017 and cuts everywhere, and parks have been hit big time,,if it was question of health and safety there would be money spent and grounds with holes filled in every week..i am afraid its about resources or rather lack of them to repair pitches | |

| to be fair it will never be unsafe to play football in a bog, more the case when the pitch is hard. so it probably is all down to what Clive says - money | |
