| Another double thread to cover this week's night games
Some intriguing matches - including AFC Royal Oak v Royalist todsy and Fairfield Dynamo v MDH Knights on Friday, both of which should have some bearing on the final tables.

| Royal Oak 5 Royal Ist 2. Impressed with Oak last night. They started a bit sloppy and gave away an early penalty (handball) and not helped by a rock hard pitch and a bouncing ball but they simply blew royalist apart second half. Was a bit surprised to be honest, because at 2-2 half time, royalist were definitely going toe to toe with them even though I think oak worked their keeper plenty enough times in the first 45. Great second half performance sealed it and they should rightly go on and win div 6 now. | |

| Oak 5-2 Royalist
Was nice to kick off the game with 3 subs, even though one was a keeper and the other two carrying injuries but even so, it's been awhile. We even managed to draft Daz Jones in for the night who I'd completely forgotten I'd signed last summer. So the gAme kicked off and was fairly even and was surprised to see Dave Barnett playing left wing but he managed to do some damage out there for the time he was there. Barnett converted a penalty after a handball in the box by Dexter. We then kicked off and within a minute or two, some good work down the left saw a ball crossed in by Tom Scott that took a bounce before Doyle smacked it into the roof of the net. I thought we would then go for it but all credit to Royalist who used there outlet on the left to good effect for the next goal. A diagonal high ball went past smallest player on the pitch and Barnett fired home. We then picked up a gear and started to work there keeper a lot more. A throw in from our very own Rory Delap was flicked on by Doyle and fell to the feet of Tom Scott who didn't hit it the cleanest but volleyed into the bottom corner. Going In at half time we knew we just needed to apply the pressure a little more and will be walking away with three points. We flew out at the start of the second half and Daz Jones found himself on the right flank and played a low cross into the middle on the edge of the box and Doyle smashed it in from 20 yards out with his left. We was creating a lot Down the wings and it wasn't before long that Daz Jones tucked our 4th in that came off his calf. Our defence was absolutely solid second half. Dave Barnett had moved up top and Dexter and Eddy didn't give the Royalist attack a sniff. Haggerty then sealed the game with a 20 yarder.
Was a massive win for us that takes us top for the first time this season. There's been many leaders this seasonbut no one has mmanaged to be able to keep enough momentum and form going to hang onto it which has made for an enjoyable and unpredictable division. Far more competitive than last year. Still other of work to do with 5 massive games coming up for us starting at Dukla at the weekend. Was a tough battle against them last time out so expecting much the same

He's spent most of the season centre mid but as he's a big threat in midfield and can smash a ball from anywhere. Very short on numbers at the back so had to pop him there but was excellant and won everything. Hands off Mr Polska :p

| Fairfield 2 - MDH 3 - A sloping, uneven pitch and a near head on wind suited Fairfields tactics much better than our own, with complaints about late challenges and elbows being punished more harshly than some of the very poor things on the field (not condoning players reactions at all though). Fairfield started the much better side, deservedly went in front, but MDH raised their game enough and 3 second half goals, including a Dim Page screamer, was enough to take the points in this massive game. | |

| The Plough 1 - 4 Wigston Fields
Goal Scorers: Mark Allen x2, Chris Whitmore, Stef Kuzyk
In a Friday night game where both teams were depleted because of work commitments and the Leicester City game, Wigston Fields came out on top of the local derby; revenge for the ploughs 3-1 win earlier in the season. In a tense opening there were little chances, a few big challenges but still good football being played, Stef Kuzyk opened the scoring with a pinpoint header from 8 yards from a Steven Toone corner. After this the plough woke up but Wigston defended well and caught the plough on the break when Steven Toone broke down the right wing and cut the ball back for chris whitmore to fire home. Before the break the plough pulled one back when a long free kick caused confusion in the Wigston defence and the plough midfielder poked in on the second attempt. After half time both teams again came out with a battling attitude but it was Wigston fields who made it 3-1 with a sweetly hit 35 yard volley which curled and flew into the top corner. After this the game heated up and a rash challenge from the plough gave Wigston a penalty. Mark Allen stepped up but his initial effort was saved but he fired in the rebound to make it 4-1. All in all a good game with a good spirit.

| plough 1-4 wigston fields
Very poor game tonight but wigston where the better of the two for the whole game. Having to play most of the second half with only 9 men due to injuries did'ent help, But no excuses we where just not good enough from the get go. The real let down of the night though was the awful display by the referee and this is not sour grapes he was awful for both sides. The attitude of the way he spoke to players was terrible, we as players know that we can't speak to referees in this manor so why shoud he think it is ok. Respect works both ways. That said good luck to wigston in there last few games good bunch of lads.

Would also like to congratulate mdh on the title. Most consistent side by far and well deserved champions...

You guys (Fairfield) are more than good enough ( plz dont take this as any form of disrespect as it is not meant that way) thus far you are the one team to completely outplay us at our place, would have been nice to have a similar game tonight, shame that conditions etc... Didn't allow (dont believe wind our boys up was ever the game plan) Fairfield as I have said before are a cracking side, they are better than tonight's fixture, we weren't good but we took three points and couldn't be happier

| All I meant is that Fairfield played to the conditions better than us.
The fact is div 2 has been a very tight division, Polska, North Kilworth and Fairfield have made it very tight and we havent won or lost to any of them by more than a goal. And anybody as low as Webbys is more than capable of beating the top 4.
Think the league shows that Fairfield are a very good side, and also shows they were placed in the right division.

How is that proven? By them beating Advance in the cup? no, by almost certainly not winning the league (after losing to MDH last night). So therefore in the right division
