| Who thinks the alliance league should create an extra cup for just Div 6 & 7 so at least they will have achance to play in a cup final.
Prem & Div1 , Div 2 & 3 Div 4 & 5 Div 6 & 7
We have the Arthur Moore,EW Fosters and the Stokes Cup(Div 5,6 & 7)
King Cup, Taylor Trophy
Whats your thoughts, is it a good or bad and if so why ???????????

| good ideas cus there are div 7 teams that have no chance against div 5 teams . the league would need a sponser for the cup trophy and so on! | |

| Great idea. Alot of the teams that participate in the Billy Walton for example tell me they dont take it that seriously, as they know that if they do manage to get past a lower div side they could come up against prem teams and they will have no chance. A cup for Division 6 & 7 would be great and certainly create a buzz for cup competition in these leagues. | |

| i'd say keep them the way they are, the less teams in a competition the easier it is to reach a final, kinda makes a mokery of the competitions if it's too easy - you don't have to be in the top division of a cup to make the final or latter stages,
last year i think Throops made the billy walton final,
we made the Stokes cup final (Saff Lounge also the semi's)
and this years Fosters Cup will have no division 2 teams in the semi final stage
All examples that the you don't have to be in the top division to reach a final or semis, sure theres loads more too from recent seasons.
There is also the county cup which gives the lower divisional teams a chance to compete against others from their equivilent levels....

It would be a good idea, if the pothunters would only keep their mitts off it, it would encourage pothunters to move down to even lower divisions, even lower ones that they currently pothunt in....perhaps if you call it a horrible name, they might leave it alone, how about.......the below average ability cup....

You say that but some teams who don't get very far in the other cup competitions and dont have many postponements finish their seasons in mid-late march. Pleant of time for more games up to May?

| One idea that does have some merit is an invitation cup, which the LSL used to run, where they invited a few teams that were mid table and out of the cups. But i think setting up another cup for all teams is the wrong way to go about it, winning a cup should be a good achievement, not something you did because you water down the competition...agree with FishandChips and Duane on this | |

| But you have the same problem as when people suggest having a winter break, the pitches arent available. Our pitch was available 3 days earlier than when we actually started.... | |

Wouldn't effect you anyway Duane only div 6 and 7 and there would be less games as you have only 2 divs and not three as it is at the minute.

| It would be nice if there was a cup we could realistically compete for. | |

Widds is right here - an invitation cup is the answer. The league decides who to invite based around the number of games the team has left (plus potentially their disciplinary record). The other advantage is it creates a more competitive cup in the sense that the league will know how good the respective teams selected are, thus no pothunters. When we were in the LSL, Red Cow won it one year. As much as we referred to it as the Billy Benson Cup, that warm sunny Friday night in May at Friar Lane is still in the memory!
