| Sporting birstall 4-3 Desford rangers Feared the worst today for birstall with the team being out all night at a players 18th party, only had 11 players and most of them were still drink lol. Went 2-0 down early on, but managed to get a goal back, with a great free kick from blaize Kerr and was starting to take control of the game. Second half started as we finished the first, in control and levelled the score with a scramble in the box and Luke Underwood found the back of the net. Ryan lay put us ahead with a 20 yard thunderbolt of a free kick, but desford equalised soon after due to some very sloppy defending from us. Desford were giving away alot of free kicks around the penalty box, their defenders were just to slow to cope with our strikers and gave away a penalty and Luke Underwood scored 4-3. Great win today with alot of my 1st team players missing, but the players I had did a great job. | |

| Pukka Pies 3 - 3 Wigston Fields.
Mark Allen x2 and an own goal
A fairly open game to start the season and both teams probably feel they could have come away with a victory but fields are the happier team with the point. In a slow start pukka pies took the lead with some nice play and a smart finish but were pegged back when Danny lawlor broke down the left laid the ball into the box and the unfortunate pukka pies defender fired into his own net. Both teams worked the ball well in stages and fields almost took the lead through mark Allen who couldn't quite convert a Danny lawlor free kick. Pukka pies again took the lead after there striker dropped deep to pick up the ball turn and with some neat play ended up finding the bottom corner with a good strike. But again fields came back when Danny lawlor found mark Allen in the box to equalise. Mark Allen almost put fields ahead when he broke through but his left footed shot didn't have the speed to cross the line before the defender got back. Second half was more of the same and again pukka pies went ahead. A long ball wasnt dealt with and a mix up by the keeper allowed the striker to convert into an empty net. Fields pushed again and won a penalty with 25 minutes left. Debutant Danny toone stepped up but it was saved straight down the middle. Fields weren't done there and it was the combination of Danny lawlor and mark Allen who put fields back on track. Lawlor pulling the ball back for mark to fire home. Into the late stages pukka pressed and had a goal disallowed and struck the post. At the other end fields could not convert a mini goalmouth scramble and it ended all square.

| Monsell Wmc 3-0 AC Wigston
AC Wigston started the game well piling the pressure with balls in the box. AC dominated in the air from set pieces but couldn't take their chances. Monsell stood strong and defended well in numbers. Kev Jones opened his account for the season with a break away goal. HT 1-0. Second half started the same as the first with AC on the front foot. Monsell defended really well throughout the game and played on the counter attack. Matthew Keeber scored on the counter with 10 to go and Kev Jones rounded it off with the last kick of the game.
AC Wigston are a good side and should have a good season. Monsell stuck to the game plan really well and got the 3 points. A job well done.
Good luck to all at AC Wigston for the season. Good bunch of lads

| Phoenix 4 -webbys 5 Proud of the lads today 4 new signings all chucked together prior to kick off And probably surprised a few including phoenix who thought they just had to Turn up to win. Should have won by more missed two one on ones goals by danny gibbons skipper Adam Simpson and a trick by new signing stu iddisah. Better start than a lot expected. | |

| Moshdock 4 AFCRO 3
Sterling performance in terms of effort from the Oak making their debut in the 1st div. Moshdock look a good side going forward and took their goals well. The Oak did not give up and were not far off grabbing an almost deserved point. Goals for 2 players playing their first games for the club and an improved team spirit mean there are lots of positives to take into next week. Also some quality saves from James between the sticks. A physical but not dirty game Moshdock went down to 10 men after using all their subs but the ref did his best to make up the numbers!! Well done to Moshdock, they played some really tidy football at times.

| It's difficult to be critical of the lads after winning two out of two but its far from good yet....
A great team performance to grid out three points and keep a clean sheet against a very capable Star Inn side
Our goal came from Luke Moore who was also MOTM playing out of position and was outstanding.
Had to add 3 new signings this morning so a bigger squad to choose from next week - time for me to earn my money lol
Niffy next always a good encounter still some improvement required.
Good luck to Scott and the rest of the Star Lads do the remainder of the season, thanks for staying for a beer much appreciated

Great effort from our new look side, went 2-0 up and missed a sitter to make it 3-0 which would have killed the game...then silly mistakes including our lino for not keeping up with the play and the introduction of there subs cost us fair play to them very good side...showed why they are the team to beat

| SPARTA MOSHDOCK 4-3 Royal Oak
A good battling performance from us today. It was a competitive and physical game but we managed to stay in it. We went 1-0 up through a Lewis Cully penalty. By 5 minutes into the second half we had already made 3 subs all due to injuries and then we suffered another one, meaning we had to play 40 minutes with 10 men.
Despite that we stepped it up and went ahead, although fair play to Oak, they kept pegging us back. Will Robinson and Steve Morley (2) grabbed the other goals for us and we managed to hold on for the win.
Well played to Oak, good set of lads. Good luck for the season.

| Aths 6 Bee's Knees 0 - Wasn't our greatest first half, it was a very slow start. We took the lead with a penalty, 1-0 at HT. The Bee's Knees had one disallowed and caused us problems in the first half, second half I thought we was far fitter than them, got used to the pitch (massive) and the introduction of the substitutes opened the game up. Tough next 3 games with Leicester KS, FC Tumar & Leicester Bharat Talbot coming up! Happy with the start though. | |

| Winning Ugly!
Well the second game of the season kicked off with the team in confident mood after a great performance to start the season. That game ended in defeat but we walked on the pitch with the knowledge that a repeat performance of the previous week would make us hard to beat and give us a good chance of getting our first points of the season.
We didn't play as well as the week before and had to battle for everything we got. They played with a 3 in the middle of the park and tried to get the most of the numerical advantage. Both teams started slow with the teams cancelling each other out and following a spell of pressure from us we took the lead through Andy Cheshire who picked up the clearance from the edge of the area and shot brilliantly in the top right hand corner to make it 1-0.
They responded 10 mins later with a equally impressive shot from outside the area that would have beaten any keeper to make it 1-1 at half time. On balance it was a score that reflected the game.
In the second half we made a change bringing Cory Beange on to add some additional tenacity to our forward play. The change worked and we spent the majority of the second half camped in their half. We applied great pressure and aside from a couple of counter attacks from MJR and a golden opportunity they spurned to take the lead we had the majority of the ball and territorial advantage.
After missing a host of chances to take the lead ourselves and with some inspirational saves from their keeper (including a 1 on 1 with Chris Pope where the keeper pulled of a great save making himself big to deflect the ball for a corner) we thought that we would yet again suffer from our inability to be clinical in front of goal. The break through came when Wez Thomas beat his man for pace and ended up 1 on 1 with their keeper before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Thats 2 in 2 for our veteran striker Wez Thomas who is starting to show some good form.
So in the end we didn't play with our normal fluidity and pace but we got the result that we wanted. As Joe Pope tweeted, it was the definition of winning ugly! We have something to build on and look forward to a challenging game against Birstall Rangers who have had an impressive start to the season and from all accounts would be comfortable playing in a much higher division. We know we will need to improve on this week but we will be striving to continue collecting points.

| I agree with your match report,
However I would just like to add that if the ref allowed the penalty that was scored but then had to be retaken and then missed the game could have been a bit different as this was at 1.1 in the first half.
I thought the first half was all even. But second half was all you. It did not help when two of our better players had to come off through injury and such that I had to come on basically with 1 leg. I thought on the whole you were deserving winners and that we did not let the ref spoil the game with needless bookings.
All the best for the season and thanks for the banter on the sideline

We applied great pressure and aside from a couple of counter attacks from MJR and a golden opportunity they spurned to take the lead we had the majority of the ball and territorial advantage.
Despite the above we thought the game was going to go against us when MJR was awarded a penalty (it never was a penatly). Their forward stepped up and nestled the attempt towards the right of the goal only for the referee to order a retake after several of their players moved into the penalty area before the kick was taken. Our 'sweeper keeper' Steve Rimes did his best to gain the psychological advantage over the penalty taker as he stepped up for the retake and it worked as the kick taker opted to go to the bottom right hand corner. Steve Rimes dived low to his left and pushed the ball away with a strong hand. Justice had prevailed.
After his penalty save and a all round solid performance Steve Rimes was awarded the man of the match award for this game.

| fc pochin 2 cska carnabys 3 yet another game we should have won but for the complete non show from 4 of our best players leaving us to scramble to get 11 fit players on the pitch at 10.29 why half the lads from last season have decided to go elsewhere because of a 3 division promotion is beyond me, looking at the divisions results so far it seems the league have got most of the teams in the correct divisons,as someone has already said don't look at the division you are in look at the teams in it.i am convinced our best team from last season would have 6 points now instead of 0 better go think I'm getting all bitter and twisted all the best to carnabys for the season and a special mention for chris mcafferty who no matter how hard he's tackled just gets up and gets on with it big respect | |

Meanwhile in division 3 we (Wigston Rangers) got battered 7-0, a likely theme for the season. But I hope everyone else enjoys the competitiveness.
