As many of you may know, not that you'll all care, but we have decided to resign from the league following the 2012/13 season.
The reason for our resignation is mainly down to the fact that a continuing struggle for player commitment week in week out has left us feeling exhausted and it's something we are not prepared to negotiate again next season, regretably.
We have ran as a football club for 4 years. Originally named 'White Lion' and based in North Kilworth, we have undertaken several name changes as well as moving home ground on 3 occassions.
We must have gone through about 200 players in 4 years, with 3 remaining from the original White Lion side. We even had former Leicester City FC legend Steve Walsh on our books, making 2 appearances against Welford Vics and Horse way back in our first season.
There has been some memorable games along the way. Our battles with Sparta Moshdock back in the day were always a good spectacle, not to mention Luke 'Binno' Binningtons celebration on the see saw at Horsewell Lane. We also enjoyed a good rivalry with Frolesworth United, and although being 5-1 up with 25 mins to go to see us draw 5-5 in the last minute, it was one of the most memorable games. Also our 5-4 victory against heavily fancied Throops was also a decent achievement. Individual memories include our Keeper Alec Hill saving 3 penalties in 1 game against Sunbury was a highlight, as was Matt Pickerings inability to see a season out without getting sent off at least once (maybe not a highlight, but quite comical). Our manager not turning up against Niffy one sunday morning as he had been put in jail was interesting.
Although this season has been a struggle, we have had an excellent cup run in the Billy Walton and a swan song final at Holmes Park was a real possibility, but it wasn't meant to be having crashed out in the semi final 2-1 to Glenfield. However, we did manage to do the double over premier league Oscars.
All in all, it's been great to be part of the Alliance League for the past 4 seasons and a real shame we are having to leave it behind.
Many thanks to Morley, Gordon, Dennis etc for accomodating us and thanks to all the players who have given up their sunday mornings to turn out for the side.
All the best everyone.
