Referee appointments-cup finals

Just a question, what determines which referee takes control of cup finals?

Do they have to be top of the marking list?

Have their fingers in a few pies?

i would think a mixture of marks averages, reliability and service to the league over the course of the season

you not far off polska when i did it marks were important as you need a ref who can handle game,,,,,then you have to remember that he will be working with assistants and has he experience of that, then its loyalty to league turning games down changing at short notice,,,,,answering correspondence,,,definatly not fingers in pies,,,

Good club marks should help an awful lot.

Names out of a hat - what is good enough for teams when making a cup draw should surely apply to referees?

yes, but teams progress through the rounds if they are good enough, and those that aren't get eliminated. same applies to referees??

That comment would have nothing to do with your County Cup appointment was it? Congratulations

There are a lot of Alliance League Referes with County Cup Final Appointments and we have all four officials on the Sunday Premier Cup Final just to show that even though the top Alliance teams were not quite good enough the Referees were or were just very lucky in the draw

many thanks, but no it wasn't what I was referring to! i only found out last week for definite and certainly wasn't expecting it!

and when you think back to the bashing we were getting on here a lot of the time during the first half of the season!

scrub yourselves up a bit, before you go on these county cup finals, otherwise they'll think a hobo is standing in the middle of the pitch.
