Our pitch (Humbos) is not City Council. Can our game not be reversed?

To my knowledge Humberstone Rangers have a pitch share with a junior team that I was told about before the season and have been honoring all season? I was told by both the Humberstone Rangers Secretary and the junior league fixture secretary?

If this information is incorrect and I have been working on wrong information please get your secretary to speak to me.

So as far as I'm aware the Humberstone game can't be reversed this weekend.

Despite being 4000 miles away the game will be played at Gutho Gaz - subject to frost overnight.

It is a League Rule that the home club gives notification of a fixture to opponents and the match official at least 4 clear days prior to the match.

The agreed Bad Weather Procedure insists that contact is made with the appointed match official.

It is a League Rule that notification of a postponement should be given to specified persons, including the match official.

Harrow will be reminded of their responsibilities regarding the effective carrying out of the Bad Weather Procedure, as set out in the League Handbook.

apart from the rules i would have thought it was polite to talk to all concerned, so now all of a sudden we are a old mans snobby league, which i think is harsh. its the league trying to look after teams and officials.

at the end of the day the league are acting within the rules after being notified by a report from myself...

Fixtures sec told me he would contact you, otherwise I would have rang you!!

enough said...... not getting into an arguement,,,,,,hope you stay with league as they are one of the most organised, with a lot of hard work going on which i dont think a lot of people realise

So no games were played at all then? No surprises there.

I'd like to get involved here and say that I told Exeter Arms Reserves not to contact the referee (to tell him the game was off) as Tommy said he wanted to do this. I let tommy know a load of fixtures off on Saturday BUT it was not till 7.30pm / 8pm on Saturday evening and I did tell Tommy I'd told the clubs not to tell the officials as he requested!!

Some clubs had already informed officials before they told me, but Tommy prefers to let the officials know himself to make sure they are told (and I did have this conversation with Tommy about this on Friday!!).

Also unfortunately I can't let Tommy know every time I receive notification a match is called off. As you can imagine my phone was pretty non stop Friday / Saturday and Sunday morning to kick off!!

I'd like to take this opportunity to opologise to Clive for not getting to Tommy earlier and also state Exeter arms are certainly NOT at fault.

exeter arms are at fault for not confirming the game in the first place....understand about the rest. although it does put a lot of work on one mans shoulders

I'm not involved in the conversation going on at the minute, but as a Club Secretary I am a bit confused.....We're told we need to talk to all involved if we're the home team- to notify and inform of any changes which includes to the opposition, the officials and the league. This is a league rule. On occasions we might be asked not to notify one person in particular for whatever reason (above- it was because the ref sec wanted to do it himself).

If for any reason the league person doesn't notify those he said he will, then fines come the clubs way. Luckily in the instance above, James has stepped in to clarify, but if it is a league rule that home club secs do the notifying, then why isn't it left that the home club sec does the cancelling too? Wouldn't this be easier for all and ensure all were informed? Not picking on anyone at all here so hope noone takes my comments the wrong way!!!

firstly fixtures sec ur getting the firsts and the reserves mixed up, i never spoke to anyone about are game sunday other than that idiot from harrow and gordon sunday morning to tell him about the situation, the pitch was rock hard and the roads were dangerous and i told him that and the tit still made us drive the 40 mile round trip as well as the ref from melton, all because if they'd have beat us they would have gone 2nd that guy needs to get a grip! Tryin to get the ref to play the game on a nasty concrete pitch, i hope i can return the favour in some way

There are two issues here which are getting confused.

1. Exeter Arms as the home side did not confirm their fixture v Niffy Rangers Reserves with the referee as required by League rules. The referee learned of the postponement from the away side, which prevented his unnecessary travel.

2. Harrow as the home side v Exeter Arms Reserves did not follow the Bad Weather Procedure which led to a lengthy, fruitless journey in poor weather and road conditions for Exeter Arms Reserves before the match was postponed after the scheduled kick off time on the Sunday morning.

There is also some confusion in the posts as two Tommy's are involved. Tommy Hollidge the Referees Secretary and Tommy Fletcher, the Manager of Exeter Arms Reserves.

The New Year Resolution for all is 'Better Communication'.
